When it comes to applying for your Car Insurance policy, it is tempting to go for the cheapest option, Third Party insurance, which is the minimum level of insurance which satisfies the requirement of the laws of Zimbabwe as defined by the Road Traffic Act. However, when it comes to a claim, Third party insurance offers very little protection so it really is important to understand what you are being covered for in all the three options for motor insurance:

Road Traffic Act/Third party Insurance:

This is the most basic cover and protects the client (or insured/ policyholder) against loss or damage to third Party Properties in the course of driving, and death or bodily injury to these Third Parties only. It also covers any legal liabilities arising from the policy holder’s driving which results in any of the above mentioned accidents (bodily injury, death, or property damage) to third parties. It does NOT cover any loss or damage to the car of the policy owner.

Third party fire and theft insurance:

In addition to the above cover, this insurance policy also covers theft or fire damage to the policy owner’s car. It does NOT cover damage to the policy owner’s car for any other reason than fire damage.
